Shockwave Chapter Three

That night Adrian didn’t eat, he just got home and went to sleep. He dreamed about this Vampire looking thing. It said, “Here I come!!!” Adrian woke up abruptly. He was sweating. He was also late. 

His clock said 8:00. School started at 8:20, whereas he lived 15 minutes away.

Adrian got ready as quickly as he could. He figured that yesterday was just a dream. His mom couldn’t take him because she had a night shift for work and was super tired. Adrian had to go by bus. But the bus had already left his stop.

Maybe he could catch it at another stop. Adrian grabbed his stuff and ran to find the bus. 

Adrian ran and he ran. He accelerated faster and faster. Soon there was a little bit of lightning following him! Adrian stopped running; he skidded across the road in an attempt to stop.

 Yesterday definitely wasn’t a dream.

Adrian felt something burning. He looked down at his shoes and realized his shoes were on fire!! He quickly took them off and threw them far away. Adrian was shocked. Everything was so confusing. 

Adrian though forgot to be aware of WHERE he threw his burning shoes,because they landed on an orphanage that was now on fire! Adrian realized this and ran over. There were probably about 50 kids in that orphanage. Adrian ran into the fire! He could barely breathe and see through all the smoke. 

In the distance he saw and heard some kids. He went over and realized they were trapped under a big piece of rubble!

Adrian got his fingers under the rock and lifted up. The rock slowly lifted up! Once the kids got out from under the rock Adrian let it fall. He took the kids out of the fire!

Adrian now apparently had Super Speed and Super Strength. Adrian went back and forth from the fire. He found out that he also had Electrical Powers. When Adrian didn’t think he could do anymore his lungs parched and his body exhorted he heard it a cry. There was one more kid stuck in the fire!

Adrian plunged back into the fire.

He saw a kid, a girl to be precise she looked about 4 or 5.

 She was engulfed in a circle of flames! “Help, please!” Adrian started to move toward her. Adrian couldn’t have done anything to save her. All heroes must go through something painful. But they get back up and keep fighting, that’s what makes them heroes. This was Adrian’s moment. As he ran toward her the building started to collapse. Adrian wasn’t fast enough and the girl died tragically! Adrian was okay physically, but mentally he wasn’t. He ran home not caring it was a school day. It was 9:50 so his mom was already gone at work. He ran inside and flung himself on the couch. He started to cry. And as he cried he slowly fell asleep, but he awoke to loud noises. It sounded like a machine. 

It was coming from the garage. Adrian groggily got up from the couch. He started to head to the garage. He opened the door that led to the garage, and what he saw was a site to see, he saw DARTH VADER!! Just kidding what he actually saw was Garret using welding tools. Next to Garret stood a giant Metallic Aqua Blue suit! Adrian just stared. Garret then realized that Adrian had entered the garage and stopped working. “Hey Adrian, you like it?” Garret said, gesturing to the giant suit. Adrian came out of his trance and said, “ One how’d you get in the house, and two WHAT THE HECK!” “Well I just let myself in your house cause it was unlocked, and that “WHAT THE HECK” is your super suit,” Garret said this like it was obvious. “My what?” “Your super suit,” “Um… why would you make that? I’m not a superhero,””Yes you are,””No I’m not,””You are because A, I know that you have superpowers because you kicked Chet’s tiny little butt! B, if you watch the news you saved an entire orphanage with superpowers! That sounds like a superhero my friend,””Not an entire orphanage,””What?” “I said not an entire orphanage!” Adrian said frustrated that Garret had made him repeat it. “Sorry,” Garret said defensively, “but what happened to those who didn’t get saved?” “There was one kid, I saw him and ran to him, but the house collapsed and the flames got to the kid first!” The two boys were silent for a while. “So then becoming a superhero will never let that happen,” Garret said after the silence. “Come on, think about it. All the lives you could save, all the innocent people you could save, they don’t all have to end up like that kid. You can save them if you become a superhero,” Then there was more silence. “Fine. I’ll do it!” Adrian replied. “Yes! Because there is a robbery going on at Fifth Avenue!” “Wait what? This fast?” “Yep come on get suited up. You got to make your superhero debut!”
