Shockwave Chapter Four

The wind brushed past Adrian’s face as he ran across rooftops. His new suit was insane. A, it looked really cool and B, it helped him find powers he didn’t think he had. Adrian was running to the crime scene. He knew where it was because one he had Garret talking to him through the com in his suit, and  two because of the giant smoke pillar rising into the sky. 

Adrian got to the spot and jumped down from the roofs and landed on the concrete.

He rose from the concrete with the robbers looking at him.

He looked really cool until Garret said out loud from the com, “Mmm this sandwich is really good,”. The robbers all broke out in laughter. 

Adrian smacked his forehead. “Hey Garret, maybe next time don’t talk about what food you are eating when I’m making my dramatic entrance!” 

The robbers weren’t even paying attention to Adrian now. 

“Stop, please?” Adrian said. The guy who looked like the boss said, “ Take care of him boys,”. The robbers all circled around Adrian. One lunged at him, but he easily sidestepped him and threw him at one of the others. “Cool!” Adrian exclaimed. Another one launched a punch at him. Adrian ducked and grabbed his arm and threw him over at the glass counter. “ Oooo, now I apparently have lighting reflexes,” Adrian said. The third guy looked at Adrian in fear and just ran away.

When the boss man turned around with the money and saw his guys down he pulled out his gun. He shot the gun! Bang! The bullet moved  slowly for Adrian. He easily sidestepped it then walked over to the boss who was still holding the gun pointed at where Adrian used to stand. Adrian was using his Super Speed which made  everything at normal speed look slow for Adrian.

Then Adrian touched the man and shocked him with electricity, sending him back into the counter of the store. Adrian had just stopped a robbery.

 “YES YEAH BABY HECK YA!!!” Adrian screamed he was so excited. The police arrived at that time. “Officers,” Adrian said in a calm voice giving them a little salute. He then ran all the way back to his house where he and Garret celebrated through the night.

The next day was Saturday. So the boys were free from school to have fun and fight crime. Adrian started to get the hang of things.

Fast forward to Monday. The boys woke up as usual and  got ready for school. Adrian’s mom drove the two to school. It was a normal day until about the 5th Period.  

Adrian was sitting watching his Social Studies teacher talk about some guy named Napoleon Bonafart, he couldn’t remember. “Adrian!” “Adrian!” “Garret?”Adrian accidentally yells out in the middle of the class. He thought he had heard Garret calling his name.   

Adrian put his head down on his desk embarrassed.

 “Adrian. Can you hear me?” “Garret?” Adrian whispered. “Ah. It works the com works,” Garret said. “Wait, you built earcoms and stuck one in my ear?” Adrian whispered bewildered. “Ummmmm, yeah. What else do you think I did?” Garret said this in a tone like it was obvious. “Dude you got to stop doing these things!” Adrian whispered annoyedly. “Forget it. There is a shooting happening. The police are under heavy fire!” “How am I supposed to get out of school?” “I don’t know, come up with an excuse! But those guys are dying,” with that Garret hopped off the com. 

Adrian had to come up with something on his own. He raised his hand and said, “ I gotta pee. May I?” Some kids around him stifled a giggle. “Yes,” the teacher replied. “But make it snappy,” the teacher said. Adrian rushed out of the classroom. He then pulled a pair of glasses out of his backpack and put them on. He then rushed out the doors of the school. Pushed a button on his glasses. 

His suit came out over him and he leaped and ran. “Yo, Garret are you there?” Adrian said into his com. 

“Yep. Right here, Adrian, the shooting is happening at 10th and Washington Drive,” Garret replied. “Copy that!” Adrian sprinted to get directions from the Ai in his suit. He screeched with his feet sliding across the street saying, “No fear I am here,” Adrian then realized that the police had their guns pointed at him. “Hey, I am a good guy,” Suddenly there was a loud sound like the sound of a gun firing. It didn’t come from the police though. Time slowed down for Adrian because of his Super Speed, so he turned around and sure enough there was a bullet coming at him coming from the robbers on the other side of the street. Adrian was in the middle of the shooting! Adrian grabbed the bullet out of midair and ran behind the police cars. Now that Adrian had a better view of the shooters he saw that they wore Blood Red and black masks. It almost looked like vampire masks.

Adrian one by one grabbed the Police men and carried them to safety. 

When he was finished he then tried to figure out how to beat these guys. He ran out from behind the Police cars and ran straight at the robbers! He sent out blasts of electricity in front of him knocking out a couple guys.

Then he dodged a couple of batons. Sent a couple of guys flying with some punches. 

Then one of the guys raised his fist surrounded by a red and black aura. Then he slammed his fist into the concrete causing a huge explosion knocking Adrian off his feet!

Adrian looked up and saw the men off in the distance running down the road. Adrian ran after them. Three of the guys poofed out of nowhere. The last guy Adrian tracked down and pinned him to the floor. “Who the crap are you!” Adrian screamed at the guy. He tore his mask off and saw him pale and sickly with a black void in his eyes. Then on his cheek he saw deep bite marks. Then the guy’s  chest stopped moving. He stopped breathing and just like that the man was dead!  

Adrian just stood there overlooking the dead man. 

Then suddenly multiple cars pulled up on the spot. It was a mix of police cars and news vans. One reporter hopped out of the van and then her and her cameraman ran over to Adrian immediately. She bulleted him with questions, “What just happened here? Did you kill this man? What do people call you?” “Duhh uh.. ummm,” Adrian fumbled with his words. It took Adrian awhile to reply but finally he did. “There was a shooting that I stopped, and no I didn’t kill this man he just died,” “People are curious and wondering who are you mysterious superhero?” “Uhh….. I’m afraid that is confidential information,””Well this is all just a wave of shock to me! Wait I know what your superhero name is, Shockwave! This is Tracy Ramirez signing off,” Then just like that Adrian had been on the news and got his superhero nickname, Shockwave.  Adrian ran back to school, finished it up and went home. 

That night Adrian thought about those bite marks on the man that died, they  almost seemed Vampire like!
