Shockwave Chapter Eight

For the next week or so Adrian watched cartoons and ate Braums. It was actually quite nice. 

No crime, and no school. The only sad part was that he didn’t get to see Ruby or Garret. Adrian’s daily routine went something like this: Wake up, watch tv, eat breakfast,(McDonalds) some medical tests, more tv, eat lunch,(Sonic) more medical checkups, eat dinner,(Braums) and go to sleep. After two weeks Adrian was through with it. He hated having to be inside all day.

There was nothing he could do about it.

Then on the dawn of Tuesday morning he saw Ruby in a blur. She was injecting something into him. She said, “We need you back Shockwave,” and then Adrian went back to sleep.

When he woke up at 11:00 AM Adrian felt different. He thought that the experience with Ruby was just a dream. Adrian moved to grab the tv remote, but he fell off his bed! Adrian was frightened. Nothing hurt though. Adrian was perfectly fine. His leg didn’t hurt, and his stitches didn’t hurt. In fact Adrian was completely healed!

Adrian tried to stand up. He was a little wobbly at first, but he kept his balance.

Adrian walked out into the waiting room, and immediately 5 nurses and doctors rushed up to him. “How are you walking?”  one asked. After a lot of conversation and questions that Adrian didn’t have the answer to, Adrian was able to go home. Every time  one of the doctors would ask Adrian a question he said, “I have no idea,” or “I don’t know it was butman,”.  Adrian was outside the hospital waiting for his mom to come pick him up. When his mom drove up she leapt out of the car,  and ran over to Adrian giving him hugs and mother son kisses. “I’m so glad you’re okay honey. What are the odds that the day you recover I’m not at the hospital, I mean how did this even happen?” Adrian gave his mom the answer that he had given the doctors, “I have no idea,” His mom embraced him again, and then they drove home. 

The next day was a school day, so as soon as Garret saw Adrian he pumped his fist in the air saying, “What’s up mister walking dead!” When Adrian went to school though there wasn’t really anything, but a few congratulations from the teachers. Adrian didn’t care though. He was just glad to be back. 

Everything was going great that day until Adrian saw Ruby, and the dream and millions of questions came back. 

 Was that dream of Ruby not actually a dream? If the dream wasn’t a dream how did she know he was Shockwave?

What about the man who brought him into the hospital, who was that guy? Had he been the guy who made the riddle and planted the bomb? Could it possibly… no it couldn’t… or could Ruby maybe just maybe somehow be the one who had planted the bomb? It made a little sense, because she knew he was Shockwave. All of these thoughts rushed into Adrian’s head, and realized that not only did he have girl problems, a bomb crazy guy, but he also had to deal with the cult dudes in the masks!

After school Adrian and Garret went to Garret’s house. (They snuck in the back door so Tami didn’t find them.) 

 They crept upstairs to Garrett’s room. Once inside Adrian told Garret about everything that happened. He told him about the bomb and the weird riddle. He told him about the strange man, and then told him about Ruby injecting him with that strange serum, and then the next day being completely fine. While Adrian recounted everything Garret was making some sort of mystery board with string and tacks.

After Adrian finished he realized what Garret had made, a master piece mystery board. It would help them connect the dots a lot easier. “What do you think?” Garret asked. “I think that we have found ourselves our first crime butty whooping mystery!” Adrian proclaimed.
