Shockwave Chapter Nine

After that day of the fight on the roof there had been almost no crime. Just a few rookie robbers here and there. 

Adrian didn’t go on any more dates with Ruby; he didn’t see the weird man or the masks. 

That was up until Thursday morning. When Adrian woke up he looked at his phone, and Garret had tried to call him and text him about 1,000 times. Adrian went to his text messages, and sure enough Garret had been spamming texting.

The messages said, “Adrian hello!! Pick up your phone!” That text repeated for a while until he got to the thing that Garret had been trying to tell Adrian, “I solved the riddle!”the text read. Adrian quickly got ready for school, and told his mom to just drive over to Garrett’s house when it was time for school, and that Adrian would be hanging out with him.

Adrian ran over to Garret’s house sprinting inside through the door and up the stairs bursting into Garret’s room. Garret however was asleep. 

Adrian was surprised, yet not surprised. Adrian shook Garret awake. In the process Adrian accidently shoved Garret off the bed which woke him up. “Spicy Taco AHHHHHH!” Garret screamed when he woke up. “Oh it’s just you Adrian,” “Garret in your 1,000 texts to me you said that you solved the riddle,” “Oh yeah. It isn’t a riddle. It’s literally telling you what this guy’s plan is, how did you not figure that?” Adrian rolled his eyes and pulled out the piece of paper, and stuck it on the mystery board. The note read, “What takes blood at ceremonies, and kills the people that were unkind to them?” “So this person or thing is going to take blood at a big ceremony, also who are the people that treated this person or thing poorly?” Adrian pondered out loud. “Let’s think about what is a big ceremony that is  taking place soon? Ohhh I got it, Taco Tuesday! He’s going to eat everybody’s taco hot red sauce! OH NO!!” Garret screamed. “Taco Tuesday is not a big ceremony, you dingus,” “Yes it is,” “Nuh Uh!” “Yes it is,”. The boys argued like this for quite some time in fact they argued until Adrian’s mom came to pick them up.

The boys went to school and forgot about all the stuff that they had been thinking about.

That was until about the end of the school day during 9th period. While the kids were goofing around for their last period, the teacher who was supposed to be watching was doom scrolling on instagram. Suddenly one of the kids yelled out, “Guys come look at this, it’s crazy news,”. Everybody gathered around the kid who had the phone. On the screen two men were talking, and they talked and talked. Adrian didn’t get how this was important until they finally got to the point, “I think Shockwave deserves it, getting the key to the city and all,” the one called Frank Fruller said. 

Adrian left the classroom as a bundle of joy. 

He went to his house, and threw himself on his bed. When he had dinner he barely ate. Adrian was just so happy. He was going to receive the key to the city tomorrow.

When Adrian woke up that morning he ran downstairs, and ate his cereal at lighting speed. He had asked his mom the previous day if he could play hooky, because he needed to heal up a little more, so Adrian had the day to himself.

The ceremony was at 8:00 AM, and it was 7:30 AM. So Adrian hurriedly got ready with his suit and ran to where the ceremony was taking place.

He stood on a building overlooking the celebration. Then the clock struck 8:00, and the ceremony started. Mayor Thingus Da Ringus(He had childhood Trauma) walked up onto the stage rewarded by a roar of applause. He walked to the microphone and started to give a big speech. 

Soon enough the Mayor called out with the crowd, “OH SHOCKWAVE!!!!” Adrian flew off the building soaring through the air, and landed on the stage. The crowd cheered crazily. 

Adrian just smiled and waved. Then he saw Ruby in the crowd. What was she doing here? Then Adrian realized, but it was too late!!!!
